The Questar 700 mm f/8 offers legendary optical quality in a fast, compact telephoto lens package. It is also a superb spotting scope, using the included “Televid” diagonal that screws onto its T-thread back and accepts standard Questar threaded Brandon oculars. A 24 mm Brandon (28x) is also included. This special four element system “guarantees flatness of field from edge to edge” of a 35 mm frame. No other spotting scope can come close to this one in dual purpose excellence. Minimum focus is 10 feet; weight 4 lbs.
This example is in generally excellent condition, not mint; it has a few slight scratches and scuffs. The glass and coatings are like new. The beautiful leather case is also excellent with only a bit of fraying on the edge of the liner. It has about half the focal length, and is nearly two stops faster than the standard Questar optic.
Questar made relatively few of these during the 1980s and then discontinued them. They are scarce now.
