Celestron's 80mm rich field refractor. (3.15") Model #52260. f/5 400mm focal length.
Fully multi-coated optics. In excellent condition.
Shows good views of the Milky Way, star clusters, double stars, and, on a steady mount, Mars (can see polar caps and dark areas). Can get up to a 4 degree field of view with a 30mm eyepiece. Also wonderful as a backyard nature spotting scope, for bird watching and photography.
Would work well as a beginner's scope, a second grab 'n' go scope, or a finder scope for a larger telescope.
Selling because I purchased a Nexstar 80 and don't need two 80mm scopes!
Bare bones, optical tube assembly only. No eyepieces, diagonal, finder, mounting rings, or tripod block.
Comes with a metal lens shade (anti-glare dew shield). Also has built-in t-adapter at eyepiece end (for photography), built-in dovetail receptacle for a finder stalk/mount, and a focuser tension screw. With front lens cap (with inner removable cap for stopping down aperture) and back end cap.
In prepping the scope for sale, I did notice two minor cosmetic blemishes on the outside of the scope: a tiny white spot (1/32”) on the underside of the tube where a piece of paint flecked off and a few small thin places on the front lip of the dew shield where the paint has scratched off (caused by removal of lens cap). A black Sharpie or Parker pen should restore them to their original black.
Overall, however, the outside of the scope is in very good condition.
Color is black. Original box and manual.
