This beautiful 10" f/5 Dob is a classical truss design with a full-thickness Orion mirror, JMI NGF-DX3 2" focuser, all quality hardwood (even the trusses - short & very sturdy). The usual Teflon-on-Ebony Star bearings. Made by a top-notch cabinet-maker of oak and cherry, it's VERY attractive and well-built. I get comments on it whenever it take it anywhere. But mostly I leave it assembled in my living room (just to look at!) The pictures tell the story - unfortunately, they don't really do it justice.
It collimates nicely and holds collimation well. It has a typical Orion primary - good quality & nice star images, diffraction-limited but nothing to gloat about. It moves smoothly in both axes and yet is stable in normal winds (it also has a shroud). Some specs:
Overall height (straight up) = 60"; Rocker box height = 13"
Rocker box dimensions: 15.5"x16"
Mirror box dimensions: 14.5"x14.5"
OTA length = 52.5"
Secondary = 2.1" minor axis
Upper cage dimensions: 12" high by 14" outer diameter
Approx. weights: rocker box/base = 11 lbs.
OTA = 35 lbs (mirror box w/mirror = 28 lbs)
Don't spend $1600+ for a premium Dob built almost as nice as this, if you can find one. You can always upgrade the mirror to one of the premium names if you want. I'm asking $1100 OBO plus shipping (under $60 - it breaks down nicely). PayPal preferred (on a no-fee basis), or other arrangements as necessary.
See my ratings. I've just got too much stuff and this has to go. Thanks for looking !! Clear skies!
