This is a 125mm f15 achromatic refractor with a single fold. OTA is mounted on a home built dob mount. OTA weighs 17 pounds and mount weighs 7 pounds. OTA length without dew shield 42" (with 47"). Eyepiece height at zenith is about 45". Also comes with bolt on wheel assembly for easy all-in-one rolling. Also includes a 30mm Meade finder, a Vixen 1 1/4" diagonal, and Orion 1 1/4" focuser. Asking $875 plus shipping (a good deal considering I paid $500 for the objective, $450 for the 3" zerodur, and at least $60 for misc parts).
At the heart of this scope is an excellent 125mm f15 achromat objective. Made by a master optician for his own personal use. The documentation with it says it is 0.08 peak to valley wave error and 0.014 RMS. It does not have coatings (the images are very slightly dimmer than a coated 125mm would be).
The 3" zerodur flat is from Oriel Optical and is rated at 1/20 PV. I have painted the outer uncoated beveled edge to reduce stray reflections.
These together produce excellent images--very sharp and contrasty. I've seen the companion to Propus in Gemini with this scope! There is a subtle bit of color on Jupiter compared to a fine apo refractor (seeing has more affect on color than with an apo). There is a slight color cast on very bright stars like Castor (very slight yellow green in focus) while none noticed on the DoubleDouble. Defraction rings same one either side of focus (with color of course). "False color" is nothing compared to faster achromats I've looked through. The previous owner of the objective (highly rated Astromart seller) compared it quite favorably with a 6" f20 D&G objective he owned. Same sharpness as an apo scope of similar aperture with extremely flat field of view!
Jpegs of scope and optics on request.
Thanks for looking,
