Save yourself money and get a scope of known quality. Meade donated this scope to Astronomy Magazine as 1st prize for a contest! Won by a non-astro person who sold it to me.
Excellent, pristine condition. It’s been outside only 3 times! Kept in temperature controlled 1st floor room. Still has the original quality control inspection sticker on it.
I'm an SCT veteran and this scope gives great images and works well. I'm confident Meade made sure that this LX90 was top notch, given they were providing it as a 1st prize to a leading astronomy magazine. They'd be greatly embarrassed had they supplied a scope that turned out to have problems or that was sub par. (Can you imagine the Internet publicity? "Hey, everybody, I won this darn scope and the baffle's loose, the motor’s out of whack, and the images, even with UHTC, are poorer than my buddy's old Meade LX-10! #^!*&!")
All standard equipment (#497 Autostar, tripod, diagonal, 8x50 finder, 26mm Super Plossl, etc.) plus manual. Includes Autostar holder that wasn’t provided on earlier LX90s.
ADD UP THE SAVINGS ($400+)
1. UHTC—Ultra-High Transmission Coatings—improve brightness ~20%.
2. Meade piggyback camera adapter.
3. #505 PC-Autostar cable connection kit.
4. Batteries (8 C).
5. Pick up available, so no shipping charge or sales tax!
6. Discounted price.
Selling it because it doesn't fit my current observing needs. I use a smaller SCT for digicam work and a dob with DSCs for visual.
Pick up preferred. I could repack it in its original boxes; you’d pay shipping/insurance from 13850.
Only $1460. Bank check preferred. (Personal check means a longer delay for clearance.)
