This scope, in truth, rocks! The first time I viewed the moon with it, I was amazed at how the incredibly high contrast view made the tonation in the maria much more jump out in a way that I had never seen before! I can honestly say that i have been awed by the views each time I have had the scope out. Truly formidable performance on lunar/planetary, and a nice flat field with pitch black background, beautiful star test (see my old posts on the yahoo group for further observational details, if you wish).
The scope is fully baffled, is in super condition, (gleaming white tube, untouched and flawless optics) and has color correction that is truly superb-you really have to look for it at the edge of the field on the bright lunar limb; in a Tak 7.5 LE viewed straight on, any color that is there is below my perception threshold.
This particular version has two additional strong points going for it: First, I had to wait a long time to get it, and when it was finally done, Vic Maris informed me via email that he had handpicked one from that run that had the best star test.
Second, it comes with a TWO SPEED JMI focuser, no longer offered on this scope. The advantage of being able to fine tune focusing with the microfocus knob cannot be overstated and must be experienced to be fully appreciated. No matter how "good" I thought I was at finding best focus with the quick focus knob, the fine focus knob always lifted the already excellent view right over the top!
Since the focuser was a $400 option, this scope cost over $800. It is for sale for $485 plus 10 toward insured shipping. The price includes a free Stellarvue carrying case and a Stellarvue red dot finder.
Postal money orders only please.
Thanks for looking.
