This is a 125mm f15 achromatic refractor with a single fold. OTA is mounted on a home built dob mount. OTA weighs 17 pounds and mount weighs 7 pounds. OTA length without dew shield 42" (with 47"). Eyepiece height at zenith is about 45". Also comes with bolt on wheel assembly for easy all-in-one rolling. Asking $900 plus shipping.

At the heart of this scope is an excellent 125mm f15 achromat objective. Made by a master optician for his own personal use. The documentation with it says it is 0.08 peak to valley wave error and 0.014 RMS. It does not have coatings (the images are very slightly dimmer than a coated 125mm would be). The housing is a solid aluminum case with three holes for mounting.

The 3" zerodur flat is from Oriel Optical and is rated at 1/20 PV. I have painted the outer uncoated beveled edge to reduce stray reflections.

These together produce excellent images--very sharp and contrasty. I've seen the companion to Propus in Gemini with this scope! Yes, there is a little color on Jupiter but it is very subtle; there is a slight color cast on very bright stars like Castor (very slight yellow green in focus). Defraction rings same one either side of focus (with color of course). "False color" is nothing compared to faster achromats I've looked through. The previous owner of the objective (highly rated Astromart seller) compared it quite favorably with a 6" f20 D&G objective he owned. Extremely flat field of view with this scope!

Sorry, no digital picture capability, but willing to discuss in detail over the telephone if you are interested.

Thanks for looking.

p.s. Why am I trying to sell? Because I have another scope building project needing optics and I need money to fund it. A little bit more portable with a little more aperture. Optical quality probably will not be quite the same though.
