I have for sale a copy of the book entitled 'Observing Meteors, Comets, Supernovae and Other Transient Phenomena' by Neil Bone. It is one of the Practical Astronomy series, edited by Patrick Moore.
This paperback book presents a detailed but thoroughly readable text discussing the best way to observe, photograph, or otherwise record transient events associated with meteors, aurorae and other atmospheric phenomena, the sun, moon, & planets, asteroids, comets variable stars, novae and supernovae.
Transient phenomena are short-lived astronomical events, unusual in a science in which time is more often measured in millennia than milliseconds. There is a fascination with transient phenomena, predictable or otherwise, that astronomers of all abilities share. In Meteors, Comets, Supernovae, Neil Bone gives guidelines for observers, including the best possible periods (months or years) to see seasonal but unpredictable phenomena like meteors and sunspots. Recording such outbursts involves visual observing techniques, photography, and even the relatively new field of the video recording of meteors, which are also examined in detail.
The book containing 198 pages, was published by Springer Verlag in January 1999. ISBN: 1852330171. Retail price is $44.
I will sell this one, in pristine condition, for $25 shipped to any address in CONUS.
