This is Meade’s finest 5” ED Apochromatic refractor. It is a late model in excellent condition, looking almost like new. The finder had tiny paint chips, now retouched. The glass and multi-coatings are perfect. It gives superb lunar and planetary images, easily better than more expensive 4” fluorite refractors by Vixen and Takahashi in side by side tests, and comparable to Vixen’s pricy 5” ED refractor. This scope has been a joy to use; I’m selling it because I’ve moved up to a larger Meade ED. The lens has been adjusted to perfect collimation and is ready to perform to the highest standards. Have a look at Scopereviews and CloudyNights for more information on Meade ED value.

The OTA weighs approx. 16 lbs., and can be used on a Vixen GP, GP-DX, EQ-5, or Meade LXD55 mount. To get all the performance it is capable of at high magnification, I recommend a Meade LXD650 (factory standard), or Losmandy G-8 (as shown in the photo). The mount and dovetail plate shown are not included, but the clamshell mount ring is. It has a lens cap and original factory shipping box. The current new price is approx. $1750 + 157.50 (cradle ring) + shipping. It is generally backordered.

My price: $1200 + shipping. :::SALE PENDING:::
