I'm selling my current mount (seperate ad) and this extremely accurate 8" f/8 OTA with a Mark Harry primary. I have the paperwork at which this mirror was tested and it was 1/35.6 Wavefront PV Error, Wavefront RMS 1/91.743. Strehl Ratio 0.9953. Has Beral 91% coatings on primary -- enhanced on secondary. Primary has a couple very small marks from being mounted / handled a couple times.
This is one nice scope... Using a small 1.30" diagonal mirror with a 3 curved vane holder and black flocked paper on the inside of the OTA. It has the really nice 2" JMI NGF Focuser. Telrad finder. And comes with 8" rings.
Have you ever wanted to see moons of Uranus and Saturn? See IO transit Jupiter? Have you ever wanted to take pictures that rival what's seen in the popular mags? This scope is probably better compared to a 7"-8" maksutov newtonian or 5" - 5.5" APO refractor. It's that good.
The scope OTA is a thin aluminum tube that's painted. (I believe it's California Tubular). Has a couple large holes cut out around the primary mirror for a cooling fan.
I'm selling only because I've got a Meade 7" Makstuov LX200 on the way and need the money. Otherwise - this scope would not be up for sale.. Plus I've already got a 16" Dob w/quartz primary -- and something's got to be sold. So I chose the 8" f/8. Better buy fast before I change my mind...
Do I hear $900 + shipping??? Or I will for $825 + s/h without the tube.
Or for $725 + s/h without the tube and without the JMI focuser (I'll substitute a new 2" rack and pinion I have from another project I'm giving up on). *At $725 you get 1.3" Discovery secondary w/holder, 3 vane curved spider, hinged tube rings, 8" f/8 primary, 8" mirror cell, 3 small fans (no power supply), 2" rack & pinion focuser and Telrad.
