For Sale: The Series IV 'Stiletto' is a CLUNKER !

One of the interesting things about winter astrophotography is that
your fingers, ears, and other important extremities seem to cool down
to zero before your Peltier does. Trying to do anything in the dark
with frozen appendages becomes awkward, and those battery-operated
electric mittens you received from your wife last Christmas really
only make your hand sweat. With these operating conditions coupled
with the dark, dropping and breaking an expensive astro accessory
is nearly certain. (If you are on the lucky side like I was, you
might find that eyepiece in the spring when the snow melts.)

Knowing all of this, instead of coming out with a heated model of the
Series IV 'Stiletto' focuser, we started off making it a real clunker
in the first place. The first thing customers notice when they
take a Stiletto out of the box is how ruggedly it is made. The body
employs thick 6061 aluminum. It's powder coated with a Harley
Davidson wrinkle finish that is virtually unscratchable. Yet despite
the toughman durability, the Series IV remains a precision focusing
instrument. It will put your CCD or 35mm camera in perfect focus in
only seconds. At a wind-chill factor of -5, this is a significant
benefit to both your photos and your fingers.

And if, regardless of your best efforts, you do manage to drop a
Series IV and break it to pieces, we'll fix it. Most of the time
this is free. (But there was that guy in California who backed over
his with his car. Go figure.)
