I bought this used about a year ago thinking I would make large
binoculars with another C102 f/5 I have (that I am also selling, see
ad 138593). It's not going to happen. The previous owner modified the
focuser tube by shortening it to improve vignetting problems. You can
see the difference in travel between this scope and stock by comparing
the below photo with the one in my other ad (both at max extension).
It made no difference to me reaching focus if using a 2" diagonal.
The original owner "cleaned" the lens and in the process something
has possibly stripped the coatings over about 1/5 of one interior
surface. I am not sure that it is not just some contamination that
could be cleaned with accetone. In any event, I notice no actual
effect in use compared with my other scope. It has OK optics that are
well collimated. It does show the slightest bit of pinching when star
testing at highest powers, but this is not noticable at the
magnifications intended for this scope (low to medium). It has a
1/4-20 mounting block, lens cap, and 2" to 1-1/4" adapter. Scope is
cosmetically in great shape. Photo of lens surface on request. New
cost about $330. Will sell for $130 shipped in CONUS. Paypal or
money order only.
