This is the same non-lanthanum zoom advertised by Orion at $200
plus shipping. (Orion is a frequent vendor of Vixen products, some-
times as Vixen, sometimes under Orion label).

It has a rubber eyecup plus the original rubber caps on each end.
It has continuously variable settings between 8 and 24 mm with arrows
indicating 8, 12, 16 and 24 mm settings. The eyepiece performs well
on lunar and planetary. Inspection under intense light shows no
sleeks or scratches. I have not used this eyepiece since I sold
my C8 for two reasons: 1. At about the same time I began to enjoy
a good selection of 2" eyepieces and 2. On my C14 half the range
of this eyepiece is utterly useless (14mm =280x, the full 14-8mm
range is therefore pretty worthless on that focal length. On the
other hand this is a great eyepiece for a C8 or dob)

An eyepiece like this makes sense:

1. If you would like to skip buying a bunch of 1.25" eyepieces
in this (very commonly used) range of focal lengths in order to
save some money to invest in 2" eyepieces later on.

2. If you observe in VERY COLD WEATHER. Two reasons: 1. You can
adjust this while keeping a mitten on and avoid having to swap out
eyepieces. 2. You can keep a kendrick strip (heater) on
this eyepiece and it will stay warm. If you have a kendrick strip but are always
fiddlign with your eyepiece selection it never has a chance to warm
the one in place.

I prefer payment by postal money order. "$140 inc. shipping" means
for CONUS.
