For sale is my Planewave 36" pier made for the L-350 mount. You can find more about them on the Planewave site. It is heavy powder coated steel, extremely stiff and exceptionally stable. The pier is constructed from 1/2" steel plate for the mounting plate and ribs. The base plate is constructed of 1" thick steel plate.
Mounting holes are drilled at 16" diameter and 12.5" diameter spacings at 90º angles in the base as noted on Planewave's drawings for the mount. Additionally, I had a machine shop drill three 7/8" mounting holes in the base at 120º spacing to secure the pier to a 3-bolt configuration - marked in the third photo. The second photo shows the hole mounting pattern for the mount or an adapter plate to secure your own non-Planewave mount to the pier. I have pdf diagrams of the blueprints for the pier to assist the construction of a mounting plate.
I'm selling this because I had a taller, custom pier constructed by a nearby machine shop that allowed me to have lower horizons with my L-350 and CDK14 in the remote observatory. I'm selling here for $2500. New cost of this pier is about $3850 - the pier itself is $3250 and the additional cost of crating and shipping was $595 in my case.
This would be difficult to ship and would prefer a local pickup or meet to to exchange somewhere. I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area and willing to drive to meet to find this pier a new home. I'll be attending the SAS symposium in southern California June 25th-28th and could arrange to meet in southern California during that time also.
Thanks for looking.
