FROM AI:
The Takahashi FS-60CSV is a discontinued short-tube configuration of the modular Takahashi FS-60 60mm fluorite doublet apochromatic refractor series. [1, 2] Key Specifications & Design
  • Optical Design: Fluorite doublet apochromat (air-spaced with front fluorite element) [1]
  • Aperture: 60 mm (2.36 inches) [1]
  • Focal Length: 355 mm (f/5.9 prime) [1]
  • Tube Length: Features a short 105 mm optical tube segment (compared to 127 mm for the CB and 145 mm for the original C model). [1, 2]
  • Purpose: The ultra-short CSV tube variant was specifically optimized and marketed for binoviewer use, providing the extra inward backfocus required to reach focus with binoviewers without needing an optical path corrector/barlow. [1]
The FS-60 Modular Ecosystem
  • Modularity: Like other FS-60 variants (FS-60C, FS-60CB, FS-60Q), the CSV utilizes Takahashi's modular system. You can swap out tube sections, or add dedicated flatteners, the 0.72x reducer (converting it to f/4.2), or the 1.7x extender (converting it to an FS-60Q f/10). [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Status: The FS-60CSV variant is long discontinued by Takahashi, with current production models standardizing around the CB configuration, though CSV optical tubes and parts are still actively used and traded among amateur astronomers utilizing binoviewers or customized imaging trains. [1, 2, 3]
