For sale: The ultimate "yard cannon." istar 8-inch, f/9 achromat complete with modified Meade DS-16 mount and Losmandy heavy-duty tripod pier.
The scope has excellent optics, but with the expected amount of chromatic aberration. Wonderfully sharp pinpoint star images with minimal ca at lower magnifications. High-power views are refractor-sharp, and false cloor can be mitigated with the use of a minus-violet filter. Great views of Saturn. The optical tube is made of light-weight magnesium and is in like-new condition aside from a few minor paint blems. Two-inch dual-speed focuser and 50mm finder included.
The Meade DS-16 mount has an a/c clock drive, manual declination slow-motion, and settind circles. There is some rust on the declination shaft and some paint chips on the Losmandy tripod. Everything is mounted on a wheeled dolly.
For obvious reasons, I cannot ship. Pick up at my home in Western New York near Buffalo and Niagara Falls. $2900 (firm)
