For sale is an Explore Scientific ED102CF 102mm f/7 air-spaced triplet ED APO refractor telescope in carbon fiber with heavy duty 2.5" hex focuser. Everything is in excellent condition, and has been very carefully and lightly used. No scratches, smudges or abrasions on the tube or optics. This is a beautiful instrument, a joy to use, and very easy to handle, with the carbon fiber yielding an OTA weight of only ~7 pounds, at 24" in length with dew shield retracted. This scope is essentially the same size as an 80mm refractor (weighing even less than most!), but provides over 25% greater aperture and 63% greater light gathering power. If you research this scope, you'll probably find folks complaining about the focuser, but I can say without hesitation that it works flawlessly with the ZWO EAF electronic focuser (which is very easy to install on this one), and has never had any problems carrying a heavy imaging train with ZWO cooled camera, loaded 2" filter wheel, rotator, etc., providing razor-sharp focusing. Check YouTube for many reviews of this scope, with uniformly positive findings and experiences. This is a great telescope, and an excellent sample here. If you're perhaps considering something else, like the Askar 103APO, I have owned an APO also, and the FCD100 glass (FPL-53 equivalent) in this one is noticeably superior to Askar's "mystery glass", which is likely to be FCD1, and very much inferior to FCD100.
Also included in this deal is a SVBONY SV193 0.8X Focal Reducer Field Flattener, for 102mm F7 telescopes, a $100 value, the Explore Scientific 2" 99% reflective carbon fiber diagonal, three extension tubes to accommodate any backfocus needs, a lightweight ES carrying bag, and a nice soft case. All shipped in the original box and packaging. This scope is registered with Explore Scientific for the extended (lifetime!) STAR warranty, which is fully transferrable to the new owner. ES will not only repair any problems, be also offers free cleaning, adjustment and collimation services on request.
I am a fairly frequent buyer/seller here on AM for many years (I change my mind a lot!), so check my all-5 star ratings and buy with complete confidence, and with the additional peace-of-mind of that lifetime ES warranty. Selling to fund the purchase of a larger scope.
Price is $849. Will ship fast, free and insured, and I'll also cover the PayPal fees.
