4. Meade ED 127APO. Another scope I hate to part with. This is the first scope I owned after a 20 year hiatus from observing. I am the original owner and purchased the scope in the 1993/94 timeframe. It has provided wonderful lunar and planetary viewing and does a respectable job on deepsky. During the Shoemaker-Levy impact several folks were lucky enough to view jet-black impack scars against a razor-sharp Jupiter through this scope. I am no expert at the star test but I do detect a difference inside and outside focus. It appears to be spherical abberation. However, in a comparison of the Meade against an excellent 6" F/8 newtonian, the excellent 6" D&G and a 1970's vintage C8 with great optics, the Meade ran neck and neck with the newtonian but did fall short of the D&G and C8 both of which out horsepowered the 5".
I have used the scope with a Takahashi Twinview bino viewer (not included with the scope) and it delivers sharp 3-D planetary viewing and great deepsky viewing reaching focus with AND without the 2x built-in barlow all without the need to add extension tubes.
The scope includes the original 600 mount/tripod with the 1697 "goto" computer drive, original Meade diagonal with the 2" to 1 1/4" adapter, a Vixen Lanthum 20 mm eyepiece, JMI motofocus and handcontroller and your choice of either the original 8x50 straight through finder(white) or a Meade 8x50 RA finder (blue). $2350 plus shipping firm. This really is a good scope.
4. Televue 4.8mm Nagler eyepiece.**SALE PENDING** This is an older model-is there a theme here?-and includes the removable rubber wing-eyeguard and caps but no box. It is in excellent condition and provides sharp high-power sharp planetary images. $110 shipped in CONUS.
Thanks for bearing with this rather long ad!
