A great beginner's astronomy kit, consisting of a large aperture (120mm) refractor, high end Televue Powermate 2 inch tele-extender, 25mm Celestron Plossl eyepiece and Orion 9mm high quality eyepiece, plus useful accessories including a basic 1.25 mm filter set (SkyGlow, 13% neutral lunar, blue and red) and a belt pouch for eyepieces, filters, etc. A $957 value for a super price.
The Celestron Omni XLT 120 telescope has a focal length of 1000mm for f8.3 and provides negligible chromatic aberration on brighter objects like the moon or planets. The Televue 2X Powemate is installed in the focuser ahead of the diagonal for a sharp image.
Mated with the 9mm eyepiece, it also gives a useful magnification of 222X for planetary viewing or studying the lunar landscape. Remove the Televue and install the 25mm eyepiece and it becomes a great star sweeper at 40X. Actually, the field of view is pretty good for star fields even with the Televue in place (80X).
This is a great rig for a beginner, with growth potential in the hobby. Lots of aftermarket upgrades available, including GoTo capability, autoguiding, high end focusers & diagonals, etc.
I accept cashier's checks or money orders only (no personal checks).
