Apertura AD12 12" Dobsonian

Apertura AD12 12" Dobsonian (solid tube)   I've had this scope for the past 2-3 years and it's been a fantastic all-around performer, regular use for everything from lunar and planetary detail to deep sky objects like galaxies and nebulae. It's in very good condition overall, some minor cosmetic dings from normal handling, but nothing that affects optical or mechanical performance. Always stored indoors.   The base has been upgraded to a custom hardwood build with a wine satin finish ($450 value), in place of the stock painted particleboard base. Once a few knobs are unscrewed, it folds down completely flat, almost like origami, making it fit easily in a car trunk. This has been a huge help for transport and I can't recommend it enough.   Also includes the dual finder setup, a red dot finder for quick aiming and a right-angle correct-image finderscope for star-hopping, a dual-speed focuser for precise fine focus, upgraded collimation knobs on both the primary and secondary for easier tool-free adjustment, a counterweight for balancing with heavier eyepieces, carry straps for moving the tube, and the stock 30mm SuperView eyepiece.   I'm selling because I'm upgrading and want to make room. A 12" has been a great aperture for visual astronomy: enough light grasp for real detail, still simple and manageable as a one-person, no-assembly grab-and-go setup.   Solid tube design, no truss assembly required, just set it on the ground board and start observing.   Local pickup only, Northern Virginia. Asking $1000 OBO cash/cashier's check.
