Pending to Tom - This is a well preserved 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain from the mid-1980's, built in the USA. We tested the scope last night under the stars and the moon looked spectacular, showing great detail - the seeing was excellent. The scope is in very good condition, the fork mount with equatorial wedge and tripod is sturdy and lends plenty of support. There are fine regulations on both axes but the motorized tracking does not work. It might be a loose connection, we have not opened up the motor housing to try and fix it. The scope comes with a wooden storage crate (not pictured).
Due to the size and weight, this will be pick-up only. We have the scope ready to check out at our school observatory in Ojai, you can Google us at Summit Observatory, Ojai.
Proceeds will go to the further development of our observatory, where we work with the kids to open their minds to the wonders of the universe. Questions are welcome!
