Having upgraded to an Edge HD 9.25, I need to sell my original gear to finance a mono CCD camera.
My NexStar 8SE has all original packaging, manuals and hardware. It is Fastar/HyperStar compatible. It was new in October 2010, and has been stored indoors and covered when not in use. The OTA has been used on a CGEM mount for the past six months, so the NexStar mount is only lightly used. AC power adapter included.
Also Included:
1.25" eyepiece filter for Lunar observation (I'm not a moon kinda guy, or a visual observation guy).
Book: "NexStar Users Guide" by Michael Swanson.
ADM top rail for mounting piggyback gear such as a DSLR camera (non-prime), and upgraded Celestron 9x50 straight-thru finder-scope (which came with the Edge, but I upgraded to a right-angle finder). Note that these accessories may tax the NexStar mount due to their weight.
Optics in excellent shape. Corrector has been carefully cleaned once. Primary is in good shape, secondary has been carefully removed and stored a small number of times to use the HyperStar lens for photography, and is unblemished.
It was $1199+shipping new, selling for $850 + shipping (or local pickup in Reading, PA).
If you're interested in entry-level astrophotography, see my posting for the HyperStar lens for this scope in the Miscellaneous section. The HyperStar lens converts the scope from f/10 to f/2 and allows you to take photographs of very short duration (~20-30 seconds) without guiding or a German mount. Yes, you can take better photos on an equatorial mount, or with auto-guiding, but not at that price!
Look up ADBjester on the big auction site for sales ratings, since I'm newer here (but have a ten year history there).

Optional accessories not included at that price, but available:
-----------------------------------------
Feathertouch upgraded focuser, FTM-CPC8
Currently installed on the OTA, $239 new, will include it for $160. Makes fine focus adjustments a breeze! I will remove it and restore the factory focuser if you do not want the Feathertouch.
(Selling because I installed a drawtube focuser on the Edge, so I could use the mirror lock).
-----------------------------------------
JMI Motofocus for 8SE:
This motorized focuser fits over the top of the FACTORY focus knob, and allows you to make very minute changes to focus without touching the knob, and thus avoiding vibration while achieving focus.
It was $169 new, will include it for $110.
(Selling because I upgraded to an absolute position focuser that can be controlled by computer for photography and auto-focus).
Please note that the JMI unit is *INCOMPATIBLE* with the Feathertouch -- don't buy both. Buy one or the other. The JMI fits over the factory focus knob, but the Feathertouch REPLACES that knob with its own. If you buy the OTA and a focuser, I'll ship it ready to use in that configuration.
-----------------------------------------
Meade f/6.3 focal reducer
Turns the native f/10 scope into a wider-field f/6.3 scope. $129 new, will include for $85. Selling because it is incompatible with the Edge.
-----------------------------------------
Meade f/3.3 focal reducer
Turns the native f/10 scope into a MUCH wider-field f/3.3 scope. $149 new, will include for $95. Selling because it is incompatible with the Edge. Note that this reducer is for photography use only, and will *not* reach focus with a visual back and eyepiece.
