I got this last year for Christmas and I was hooked straight away. I immediately stepped up to more expensive equipment more suitable for astrophotography, however the 5SE is a great grab-and-go telescope. I have not used it for 8 months but even so I love having it around, I just like the looks of Celestron's orange tube. At any rate, it is time to let it go and hopefully get some more cash to buy other equipment.
Celestron NexStar 5Se in like new condition. Excellent optics, GOTO operation is textbook. The optical tube has a standard dovetail rail attached and is removable from the mount.
Included in this ad:
1) Celestron 5" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (classic heritage of the original orange tube)
2) 25mm eyepiece
3) Computerized go-to mount with NextStar's SkyAlign
4) Star Diagonal 1.25"
5) Tripod
6) Factory latitude bar plus my modified latitude bar
7) Red dot finder
8) Power cable (goes to a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket)
Note: batteries not included, I suggest you get a power pack. I just use a 12 volt battery for small car.
Specifications:
The telescope is in very good shape. You can read all the details on Celestron's web site, but I have included the major details below:
Optical Design Schmidt-Cassegrain
Aperture (mm) 125 mm (4.92 in)
Focal Length (mm) 1250 mm (49 in)
Focal Ratio 10
Eyepiece 1 (mm) 25 mm (0.98 in)
Magnification 1 50 x
Finderscope StarPointer
Star Diagonal 1.25"
Mount Single Fork Arm Altazimuth
Optical Tube Aluminum
Tripod Steel with built-in wedge
Telescope Weight 17.6 lbs (7.98 kg)
Tripod Weight 10 lbs (4.54 kg)
Payload Capacity 10 lbs (4.54 kg)
Tracking Modes Alt-Az, EQ North & EQ South
Modifications:
I made one modification to the latitude adjustment bar. I have since removed the modified latitude bar put the factory bar back but you can see in one of the picture the modified bar which actually works much better than the factory bar.
Know Defects:
There are two very minor defects and both can are shown in the pictures. First the orange OTA has some minor scratches on it. Second, the view finder on/off knob has part broken off. It still works, I did not noticed it until I took the pictures for this post :-)
