For sale is a beautiful vintage **Questar 3.5-inch Duplex**, identified by its serial number as:

**#6-CV-DP-6501-BB**

This is a **1976-era Questar 3.5 Duplex** with **Cer-Vit optics and Broadband coatings**. It is a wonderful example of the classic Questar design and is being offered as a complete vintage package with its original-style case and a substantial collection of accessories.

## Included

* Questar 3.5" Duplex telescope and fork mount
* Original Questar drive/base assembly
* Original Questar carrying/storage case
* Questar tripod legs
* **16mm Brandon eyepiece**
* Questar photographic/camera coupling accessories
* Extension/coupling components
* Front-lens diaphragm marked **“QUESTAR FRONT LENS DIAPHRAGM — FOR USE ONLY AT DISTANCES LESS THAN 25 FEET”**
* Additional Questar optical/accessory components shown in the photographs
* Power cord
* Original-era Questar owner's manual, copyright 1976

**Please note: I do not have a 24mm Brandon eyepiece, so it is not included.**

## Condition

The telescope is in very nice overall vintage condition, with normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age.

The optical surfaces appear clean from visual inspection, with no obvious fungus or major haze visible to me in the photographs. I have **not professionally cleaned or serviced the optics**, and I recommend that the buyer judge the optical condition from the photographs and/or inspect it personally.

I performed an indoor functional test using a distant hanging neck chain as the target. The telescope produced a **clear and sharp image**, and the altitude, azimuth, focusing and finder/magnification controls were operated during the test.

I also attempted an astronomical test outdoors. Unfortunately, the sky was cloudy and the Moon and stars were not clear even to the naked eye, so I do **not** consider that test conclusive. I was able to see the Moon enlarged through the telescope, but atmospheric/cloud conditions prevented a meaningful sharpness test.

The original case is in good vintage condition but does show age-related wear. In particular, the case handle has some deterioration around the attachment points, as shown in the photographs.

The telescope has **not been professionally serviced or star-tested by me**. The clock drive should therefore be considered **untested** unless otherwise demonstrated before purchase.

## Vintage configuration

The serial number **#6-CV-DP-6501-BB** identifies this as a Questar Duplex with:

* **CV — Cer-Vit primary mirror**
* **DP — Duplex configuration**
* **BB — Broadband optical coatings**

The accompanying owner's manual is also marked **Copyright © 1976 by Questar Corporation**, making it a particularly nice piece of period documentation.

This is being sold as a vintage collector/astronomical instrument rather than represented as a recently serviced telescope.

I am asking **$3,900 OBO** for the complete package shown. I would prefer a knowledgeable buyer who appreciates vintage Questar equipment. Local inspection/pickup is welcome, and careful insured shipping can be discussed with the buyer.

**Please look carefully at all photographs, as they are an important part of the description. I am happy to provide additional close-up photographs of any component before a sale.**
