The Deep Sky Instruments (DSI) RC14C is a flagship 14.25-inch f/7.0 true Ritchey-Chrétien astrograph built specifically for advanced astrophotographers and remote observatories. As part of DSI's "TrueRC" series, it features high-end optics paired with a two-element internal field flattener to deliver a perfectly corrected, coma-free imaging circle.

While retired as a mass-production instrument, DSI transitioned to building these systems on a custom-order basis.

* DSI 3.5" Optical Interface: Because standard camera adapters caused vignetting on large 16MP+ full-frame sensors (like the Kodak KAF-16803), DSI engineered a proprietary 3.5" x 24 tpi threaded interface built alongside Optec to secure zero-flexure imaging trains.

* Fixed Primary Design: The primary mirror is locked rigidly into place. Focusing is handled strictly via a precision electronic secondary mirror focuser which is fully ASCOM-compliant, permanently eliminating image shift or mirror flop during long exposures.

* Thermal Performance: The optical tube assembly (OTA) utilizes a heavy-duty, ultra-thick glossy carbon fiber tube with integrated aluminum and stainless steel structural parts alongside automated cooling fans to guarantee focus stability under changing night temperatures.

• Collimation Architecture: Mirror tip/tilt cells use three sets of dual-screw push-pull locking points separated by exactly 120 degrees, letting users fine-tune the hyper-critical alignment required by true non-spherical RC mirrors.
