Tax time is here. $375 plus shipping.
It would cost you more money and time to do it yourself. The Baader adapter is $75. What is a strengthened and lengthened CG-5 tripod worth? Best price on a Nexstar 80GT with a toy tripod is $300 plus shipping.
The mount itself is only a month or so old. I've mounted a bulls eye level on the plastic drive cover that works well for star alignment. The drives have been relubed and friction adjusted to handle an OTA up to about 8 or 9 pounds. It has the Baader CG-5 adapter to accept a CG-5/GP dovetail and a dovetail is included. Includes the most current software hand controller, that works with RS-232 linked computers using the Nexstar interface. Works great with Planetarium on a Palm M505.
The Tripod is a modified CG-5 tripod. The GoTo mount base has a groove cut in it to clear the Az adjustment tab of the CG-5 tripod base, allowing a CG-5 or GP head to mount as originally designed. The tripod base was drilled out to accept the next size wingnuts and bolts. The lower middle aluminum legs have been filled with portland cement and extended with 9 inch hardwood tips. Pretty stable. Also, to provide extra strength to the longer legs, the 3 plastic spreaders of the brace have been replaced and anchored on the lower leg clamps with oak spreaders. Holes are drilled for a tray, but not included.
This mount works very well.
Split it up? What is a strengthened and lengthened CG-5 tripod worth? $75 perhaps? The GoTo mount, $300. Both plus shipping.
Thanks for looking.
