PRICE REDUCED

Here is a used Losmandy G811 mount with Gemini II computer in great shape.  I am the original owner and purchased this mount directly from Losmandy in Feb. 2022.

Please note the G811 mount is a HYBRID mount that has the full-size G11 RA drive, but a smaller G8 DEC drive.

It comes from a smoke-free home.  It is now surplus to my needs as I have downsized equipment and are now using ZWO harmonic mounts.

Here is what is included:

G11 RA Drive System.  This is the G11 RA system and has spring loaded gears and tucked motors.

Includes a POLARSCOPE WITH ILLUMINATOR.

G8 Dec Drive System with the RA Extension Kit.

This kit also gives users the ability to easily remove the Declination axis from the mount using a dovetail bracket on the extension plates that are held in-place with dual thumbscrews. Being able to dismantle the Declination axis from the mount allows users to break down the G811 into lighter more manageable pieces during transport.

The extra clearance allows the mount's Right Ascension axis to rotate through the Meridian without hitting the motor assemblies.

Losmandy Computer and LCD Hand Controller.  (The internal 2032 battery was recently replaced.)

The system was upgraded to the V1.60 firmware for both the controller and Servo Drive motors.

Two 11 lb. Counterweights, one 7 lb. weight and shafts as shown.

The shorter shaft is on the G8 RA Extension Kit.

Control cables as shown.

Also, the red object is a PoleMaster adaptor that is needed to thread a PoleMaster camera into the Dec drive.  The extra height extension is required as the original PoleMaster camera would hit the tucked Dec motor.

Other Information.

As shown in the pictures, the G811 mount is compatible with a ZWO ASIAIR controller and will guide properly with this controller.  However, the use of the ASIAIR Polar Alignment function requires changing G11 controller speed settings as shown in the photo.

This is required to have the RA drive rotate by 60 degrees when performing a polar alignment procedure.  If the original Losmandy settings are used, the rotation is extremely slow.

Other Losmandy / ASIAIR Quirks:

With the new Losmandy Version 6 software, automatic guiding calibration using the ASIAIR now takes much more time.  Sometimes, up to 30 E/W/N/S movement steps are performed before the calibration procedure is completed.  Also, the DEC guide star position is “offset” whereby many DEC movement pulses are needed to finally bring a guide star into a centered DEC position.  Afterwards, guiding is fine.  (Have not investigated why this happens.)

There are some small nicks in the LCD screen from use over the years.  Use of the screen and viewing is not affected. (See picture.)

As shown in Picture 6, the bottom right standoff and screw is missing.  During changing the battery, this standoff broke off and the bottom threads are still in the computer box.  It would be difficult to try and extract this broken thread.  I just covered the hole with some black electrical tape.

Shipping Costs.

Good news:  The mount will be professionally packed and shipped by UPS or FedEx Ground.

Bad News:  It is not cheap.  My local packing store gives estimates that three or four boxes may be required.  This is to a fictional West Coast location shipped from Indiana.

They estimate the overall packing and shipping costs in the $300 to $400 range

The shipping costs may be less if you are located closer to Indiana.

The price of $1,200 includes the standard PayPal fee.   The buyer would pay the packing and ground shipping costs in the CONUS as described above. However, I would be willing to split the shipping costs by 50:50. Therefore, your packing and shipping costs could be in the $150 to $200 range.

However, if you are located in the Indiana or even the Chicago area, perhaps we can meet halfway and totally negate the high shipping costs.

Will only accept PayPal.

Thanks for looking.
