Construction is Aluminum 6061-T6. Mount has been finished in a durable Powder coat in instrument grey and then clear overcoated to make the finish hard as nails. Stainless hardware is used. Mounts can be equipped with encoders. Mounts attach to the Meade adjustable tripod either the field model or the Giant model. A tripod mounting block is supplied with each mount and has a tapped 1/2-13 thread hole in the center of the mounting block which makes attachment to the Meade tripod easy. A Losmandy saddle is included for easy attachment of your ota.
Heavy duty Altaz mount weighs in at 36 pounds, has 16.00" between the yoke arms, can accomodate a C-14 and other OTAs up to 50 pounds steady with moment arms of 45 inches. I have had the AP 155 binoscope on this mount and it's total weight with tandem assembly is 74 pounds riding in the yoke. It holds this weight with a damp out time of about 2 seconds. I would expect exceptional steadiness for lighter tube assemblies. The altaz bearing is 6.5" in diameter. Both radial and thrust bearings are used on both axis. There is a provison for a quick disconnect on the mount to seperate it from the tripod mounting block quickly. Fast setup in the field for bringing that refractor to a remote site or just using it in under 2 minutes in the backyard. Has friction adjustments on both axis and a brake on the altitude axis. Custom mount requirments can be incorporated on request.
