Has 1/4"-20 hole in base, 1/4"-20 bolt on top. Extremely smooth, very fine adjustment, will handle a spotting scope or full sized binoculars (would make a terrific adjustable holder for a finder). This is not the lightweight version currently sold by Orion. Excellant condition, original packaging, paid $60.
