Apogee Super Abbe Ortho Set Sold to Peter
This set includes 4.8mm, 7.7mm, 10.5mm,16.8mm & 24mm Super Abbe Ortho 1 1/4" eyepieces with boxes and 'bolt' cases.
These are a 'plain Jane' Abbe Ortho eyepiece manufactured for Apogee (before they were purchased by Optics Planet) that are multi-coated. All are in LNIB condition. "Pristine"
When Apogee produced these they chose to put the money in the optics, not the housing. They have a metal, one piece body with a baked, epoxy finish. The optics are screwed into the body with a spanner wrench from the bottom. They have 1 1/4" size filter threading inside that are blacked. Basically, to save production costs they manufactured two sizes of bodies and the optics that are screwed in determine the focal length. A smart way of production cost savings so they could spend more on the optics providing a reasonable cost eyepiece with good quality optics.
These are a surprisingly good Abbe Ortho eyepiece (especially for the price) that work well in all types of medium to longer focal length scopes. In direct comparison, these eyepieces are optically as good as the vintage, U/O Abbe Orthos which typically sell for ~$60.00 each. So if you are looking for a good set of Abbe Orthos to use and aren't as concerned about their looks, check out this set.
$100.00 USD for the set.
Buyer pays shipping. $13.50 Priority Mail shipping via USPS in USA, $15.75 for S&H to Canada, email for other foreign county S&H prices.
