I am well past the point of having too many binoviewers and one of them has to go.

This is the older Celestron/Baader 1.25" binoviewer with a built-in 60° viewing angle. There is a built-in prism that replaces the usual star diagonal and provides a comfortable viewing angle from horizon to zenith with a refractor or some type of Cassegrain (Schmidt, Maksutov, Classical, RC, etc.). The image is rotated 180° (but not flipped L-R, IIRC), so this is better suited to astronomical use than terrestrial. There are 3 different ways to attach this to your telescope: the built-in 2" nosepiece, the female T2 threads inside the nosepiece, or the included T2 (male) to 1.25" nosepiece.

The killer feature of this particular unit is that it has a very short light path, so if your scope can reach focus with a 2" mirror star diagonal, it should reach focus with this. This design doesn't work well on a Newtonian, unfortunately.

The binocular head was made in Germany, reputedly by Leitz Wetzlar. I can't confirm the maker, but I can vouch for the high quality; it is very well built, and the optics are top notch. It is very sharp on the moon and planets (though you might need an extension tube and a Barlow for higher magnifications). I have read elsewhere that this has 17mm of clear aperture, which is in the ballpark for what I see down the eyepiece tubes. On the telescope side, I measure 19mm. So you can expect vignetting with 24mm Panoptics or similar. However, it does OK with eyepiece field stop sizes up to about 20mm.

The optics are in excellent condition, but there might be some light dust that doesn't affect the view. The housing could probably use a cleaning if you are picky.

I have 4 matched pairs of 1.25" eyepieces that work quite nicely with this in my refractors. However, I realize that you may not want all of these, so here is my pricing:

  • $150 Binoviewer body and a pair of 10mm Orion Sirius Plossls
  • +$30 for the 23mm Stellarvue E3023 (Kellners) pair
  • +$40 for the 17mm Celestron 'Halloween' Plossl pair
  • +$100 for the 12.5mm Celestron Ultimas pair and the eyepiece case

In other words, $320 would get you the binoviewer and all the eyepieces pictured, or you can choose just the eyepieces you want from the menu above.

I will not sell any eypiece pairs separately before the binoviewer sells. Further, I will only sell the 12.5mm Ultimas to the buyer of the binoviewer (I've got an upcoming binoscope project).

I will cover USPS Priority Mail shipping in the U.S. and any PayPal fees. I can also accept Venmo, or a Money Order. I will also offer a $30 discount for an in-person cash deal if you happen to be in the Portland, OR metro area.

Thanks for looking!
