"UPDATED"   Zeiss "Asesinais" model approx age 1928 after 1926 because of the AS Series lens. I have uncrewed the lens cell from the main tube and added photo's of the front and rear of the lens. The coating is good, on very close examination there are swirl marks or hairline circular scratches around the outer to mid diameter which appear to be on an internal lens, also a few dust particles within the lens. the front and back lens outer surfaces look good.  My original picture of the lens did not depict its  true shape.
Note: Lens designiation "Carl Zeiss Jena NR 14493 AS f=1240cm, this is a semi apochromat.
I  screwed the lens cell back in and viewed with it terrestrally at an object about 200 yards away and it focused and resoved very fine .

I am selling my Antique Zeiss 80mm Refractor OTA with rare coin operated viewing attachment serial number 11212. .The OTA has the Yoke mount feature but does not have the pier or stand. I purchased this as a project a few years ago from a person who had it stored in thwere garage in Michigan. I would assume this may have been located on one of the lakes or in a park. I am not sure of the age but I would guess in the 1920's, any serious Zeiss enthusiast will be able to figure out the exact age by the serial number.

I  touched up the main tube so the original paint is in tact, The dew shield was beyond touch up so I did re paint  and weathered it a bit to show age. The brass section looks to have been re laqured at some point but no evidence of machine polishing. The focus assembly works but is very stiff and will need attention.

The OTA has a  dent on the underside (see photo). I am not willing to take a chance to strip the small screws to take off the dew shield so my photo of the lens is from the end of the dew shield, it appears it may have some surface wear and I am sure it will need a good cleaning.

The coin op mechanism appears to be complete with viewing eyepiece and removeable coin box. The coin box slips on fine. The coin op attachment: if you put in a coin and turn the knob it drops into the removeable coin box however the viewing is always open. There is no key to lock the coin box, I assume one can be made. I believe the coin op attachment is a fairly hard to find piece.

The original Zeiss wood storage case is solid and in fully intack condition, it shows the usual signs of surface wear from almost 100 years of service.

I will pack the OTA  well within the storage case and will box the case appropriately  for domestic shipment. Local Pick Up is also available, It will be  a long box, the storage case is 76"x10"x10" so the shipping box will be 80"x 14"x14" approximate total weight is 90 to 100 lbs.

Please review all the photos carefully.  I am pricing this very reasonably for purchase as a project.
