This is the first series of Naglers made by Televue. They were all made in Japan & have FMC optics. This 7mm Nagler has no eye cup
attached* or a knurled ring around the middle. The chrome barrel is threaded for filters & the upper portion of the eyepiece body is stamped w/"JAPAN". The top part is also beveled and chamfered, allowing for positioning of the eye directly over the ocular lens, & thus allows the observer to fully utilize the 82 AFOV.
I've owned this ocular for appx. 7 years & I am its second owner.
Unlike old soldiers, great eyepieces don't fade away... This ep has many, many set screw marks & some of them represent my more
memorable & contented observing sessions. As I am primarily a Solar System observer I have switched to Radian eyepieces. I have neither box nor orig. end caps, but it will be shipped very securely. I will sell
this 7mmNagler, Gen.1 for $160 shipped and insured in CONUS. More
distant buyers will have to pay shppng. & ins. Postal money order or
cashiers check preferred. Personal checks accepted but item will not be shipped til check clears. However, I will be selling one Radian ep
because its fl is just a little too long f/my obs. needs. Also, Nagler7mm, Gen.1 is supplied with a *removable wing type rubber eyeguard easy to detach-exc. condition*. In addition, the eyelens on this Nagler7mm ep is an incredible 14mm in diameter. See f/yourself on photo below. IMPORTANT INFO: Have you noticed that 4.8mm and 7mm Naglers, Not Type 6,
are selling NEW for $155 & $190, respectively. These new Naglers are made in Taiwan. The older 4.8mm and 7mm Naglers, sold new for $175 & $220,
respectively and were made in Japan. Has any other Televue product gone down in price? If so, I don't know about it, but I know of many that have increased in price over the years, which is natural. NOW, what does this say about the quality of Naglers made in Japan & the really new ones made in Taiwan? Thanks for reading this. Michael.
