9TE/12TE 2.4" (60 x 700 mm) Tasco Altazimuth Refractor

This is an early model (late 1960's - early 1970's) 2.4" altazimuth refractor with excellent (star-tested) optics and all-metal construction -- no cheap plastic parts.

The original unit is a Model 9TE, with single-axis (elevation) slow motion and metal tripod legs. It comes with the original 5 x 24 (achromatic) finder, star diagonal (also star tested), and the usual .965" Huygens oculars. (Obviously, you'll want to use some high quality .965" oculars with this or a hybrid diagonal + 1.25" eyepieces in order to take advantage of the nice objective.)

There is some paint marring on the OTA where the finder bracket is attached, otherwise this unit is clean and in very good condition. [Will repaint to your specifications for an additional $25.00 if you wish.] Comes packed in its original (9TE Model) cardboard container.

As an upgrade, I am offering this scope with the dual slow motion mount from a 12TE, supplied with wooden tripod legs. [See example of a 12TE mounting in photo. Note that this unit does not have the extendable inner drawtube shown in photo and the 1.25" eyepiece shown is NOT included with this unit.] Will also include the original 9TE mount in this package if you like.

All in all, this is a very nice, collectable old instrument, that would be great for a second telescope or for someone just starting out in astronomy. Am asking $75.00 for everything [$100.00, if repainted] plus actual cost of shipping to your address via UPS.

Please contact me if additional information is needed.

Thanks and Clear Skies!
