Lovingly cared for TEC APO 180FL f7.0 REFRACTOR needs a new home. Always housed in my observatory and never stored outside. I personally picked it up in Golden from Yuri September 2011 and it is Serial Number 48. Once it arrived in my observatory it has never travelled again and I can't find even a minor scratch on the tube. Of course, you have to expect some light observing dust but it is very recent manufacture and as close to new as you can get. It has been a privilege to own equipment of this caliber but aging parents now require a move out of state (to an area that gets as many cloudy days as Seattle!) and everything must be sold.
For those interested in the optical train it was the best I could configure and flowed from the TEC 180FL---Baader Mark V Binocular Viewer---Docter 12.5mm UWA. I'm strictly a visual observer and this has been quite the system. In the past I spent most of my time on Jupiter and Saturn with Mars always being a distant third. With this refractor Mars surpassed Saturn as my second favorite planet. As expected the moon is fantastic. The Mark V, Doctor 12.5 eyepieces and AP900GTO have already been sold (thank you fellow Astromarters) and the companion refractor, an Astro-Physics Gran Turismo, has also found a new home.
A picture of the observatory I designed to house the refractor is included to show equipment storage conditions. The observatory was climate controlled with a floor fan blowing conditioned air from the downstairs up into the dome.
The telescope is located in Texas midway between Austin and Dallas. To begin the sale I am requiring a personal pickup of this rare refractor. If this proves impossible I will then consider shipping to CONUS.
The refractor is shown fully tricked out but the sale includes ONLY the TEC 180FL with the Feather Touch 3545 focuser, a pair of TEC rings, a Baader Vario Finder 60x10 with Yuri's elegant finder base, plus the Thermodyne padded case.
Payment is by bank-to-bank transfer or personal check with check clearing before shipment. Straight sale no trades please. Will forward high resolution photos to interested parties.
Price is $17,995 USD.
