This is a Unitron 114 with Unihex and Barlow and I hate to sell it, but I have too many scopes and too few clear nights. I hate to sell it also because this is one of those telescopes that I like looking at almost as much as I like looking through. It's beautifully built and reminds me of my early days in this hobby. But it is less than perfect and I want to give you the quibbles up front. This is not a museum piece. On the tripod the spreaders are simply some strips of aluminum I drilled holes in. They work, but they are not original. On the Alt-az mount one of the knobs was made by the previous owner - an excellent machinist. I did not paint it black because I'm interested in functionality, but if you painted it black it would look an awful lot like the original knob on the other slow motion control. On the OTA the focuser is attached to the tube with aquarium cement. The original owner - this scope hails from the mid-70s - assured me this was a good idea and worked fine and he's right, it does. The objective cap is original, but has been broken and glued back together and is functional, but cosmetically challenged. On the Unihex the 1.25-inch eyepiece holder is not original, but perfectly functional. Everything else about this scope is fine. Old with a few bumps and scrapes, yes, but working just fine. And you can't beat the Unitron workmanship on the optics and the mechanics of the mount. Smooth - very smooth. One bonus - the Unihex includes the Barlow - and, not pictured, is the original wooden case for the OTA. Oh yes - and four original Unitron eyepieces of the .965 variety for the Unihex are included as pictured. I'll absorb PayPal fees, but you need to pick up the shipping. I tried to include enough pictures to show all. And yes, I will consider parting this out eventually - I already tried advertising the Unihex separately, but I'm pulling that ad - I'm not enthusiastic about going that route. I could get more for it that way, but I'd rather sell it as a unit to someone who will appreciate it and keep it as such. Oh - You can use the Unihex, but as the last photo shows you can also use the included tube and 1.25-inch diagonal. (The Unihex is still optically fine, however, but most of the holders simply hold the older .965 eyepieces which while acceptable, do not give you the wider views of many modern eyepieces.) Thanks for looking.
