This is a quality telescope produced in the late 1970's by Asahi Pentax. 85 mm achromat f/12, 1000 mm focal length. I am the second owner and owned the telescope since around 1982. During that time, Pentax produced a series of premium refractors that were mounted on solid mountings. The overall quality is very similar to my Takahashi. It is an attractive and well designed telescope.
The telescope includes equatorial mounting with synchronous motor drive, three eyepieces (0.965" dia) of focal lengths 25mm, 12.5 mm and 6 mm, sun filter (use not recommneded), solar projection screen, carrying case, and extra counterweight. The interior foam padding has deteriorated over time and needs to be removed and replaced.
Although this is an achromat, chromatic aberration is not a serious problem at this aperture. The images are crisp and high in contrast. This is a great telescope for planetary and double star observing.
I treated the telescope with care over the years, but it was used. While it is in very good condition, there are some cosmetic flaws. They amount to a number of scuffs and minor scratches. There are no dents in the tube. The carrying case interior is what needs the most work.
I would prefer to sell the telescope to a buyer who can pick it up, but will consider shipping it. I will also consider selling the mount separately, but not the tube. assembly.
