I just bought a Leitz wood surveyor tripod ($50.00) for my Helix Alt-Az mount. All I can say is "Wow!" I now understand why this type of mount is so popular. I had been using a Bogen 3046 tripod with the mount which was OK for my 80ED but a bit unstable with my 100ED. This tripod is ROCK SOLID! If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area and would like to pick up one of these, the guy selling them said he has about 1/2 dozen available.
