I bought this scope earlier this year from Steve Miller here on Astromart (#331095), but I can not justify keeping it now. However, I've improved on it a bit because of some of the Pentax accessories I have.
This is a very nice 70mm achromat with a focal length of about 12.8 (900mm). The telescope gives great views. It has one obvious scratch that can be seen in the pictures. The 6x30mm finder has a reticle. The focus has a lock. The eyepiece holder is a clamp, not a set screw. The lens is in excellent condition. The focuser is smooth.
The mount is similar to a Vixen GP but better. Notice the threaded counterweights, stainless altitude adjustment, polar axis finder, and overall excellent condition with just a few minor scratches. The slow motion controls are not original. The mount works flawlessly and the slow motion is smooth. I have recently re-felted the clamshell to better secure and protect the OTA.
The tripod is heavy duty one piece aluminum. Not the flimsy stuff like Vixen today, but solid, stable, and in excellent condition. The tray has solid threaded thumbscrew bolts that slide on to hold the tray.
Included is the mount w/2 cw's, tripod and tray, telescope w/lens cap, finder, bracket, wooden case (very good condition), and original manual. I'm including a Pentax prism star diagonal specifically made for these 38mm drawtubes that will allow the use of standard 1.25" eyepieces - that diagonal is worth $100 by itself - if you can find one.
I'm asking $450 including insured shipping in the Continental USA. This is really one incredible telescope package for the price.
