Two complete Bartels Go-To Stepper Systems available.
SOLD System 1 ($250) was purchased on AstroMart and was originally installed on a large equatorial mount in Colorado and includes circuitry in enclosure including field de-rotator or focus motor board, all cabling (and lots of it), two NEMA 34 400-step motors (very beefy, high torque, difficult to find and expensive), handpad, AC adaptor and a 486 Laptop with Scope.exe software. I never installed this system on a telescope, but the previous owner reported very good performance. I’ve fired up the system on several occasions and everything works as it should.
SOLD System 2 ($200)was built by me for a 10” Dobsonian (pictured on Oregon Star Party 2002 walkabout page on Mel’s site) and includes the circuitry (soldered by Mel) with current protection circuit (for polarity) and fuse in an enclosure, two AstroSyn 200-step motors that deliver good torque in a more lightweight package than System 1, all cables (except encoder cables), handpad and a 486 laptop with Scope.exe (motors currently tuned to 40 microsteps), Earth Centered Universe and other miscellaneous Windows 3.1 software loaded on.
Add-on for either system ($80) – two 60:1 sintered brass gear reducers made by Torque Transmission Inc.
Note: I have no problems with the performance of the stepper system – it works great! I am selling because I just completed a new telescope and want to tinker with Scope II and the new servo-based system. The rains are coming (correction: are here) and I need something to do on all those cloudy nights. If you leave your phone number I’d be happy to answer any questions.
