The optics are very good in this scope. I have owned it for many years and have used it to observe all of the Messier objects and more.
The finish of the scope is still very good. The wedge and tripod have some cosmetic scratches to the paint.
The telescope has two modifications. In 1991 I added a power module made by Tuthill to allow this scope to run off of a rechargeable battery which is enclosed in the original base. This makes the scope much nicer for remote/field use. I replaced the battery to the Tuthill unit two years ago. The second modification was my own hack to allow the illuminated grid of the polar alignment finder scope to be powered by two AA batteries instead of the specialty batteries that it used originally.
Also include is a very nice Celestron branded pelican case.
I am asking $600 for everything. If you don't need the pelican case make me an offer. I would prefer to sale locally and I will drive up to 100+ miles to meet you halfway otherwise you pay shipping and insurance.
