SOLD, Thanks Steve!

20" Premium Views with your feet on the ground. Most of the time, anyway.

You won't believe how low the eyepiece is.

This was a famous scope at Mt. Pinos, CA for years up until recently when the scope's builder "retired" from large scope astronomy. Scope was built as an exacting low profile Obsession Design. Cage and Mirror box are built to accomodate a 22" mirror and scope could easily be upgraded to a 22". Craftsmanship is absolutely second to none. Astrosystems 18 point mirror cell with 2 DC cooling fans. Galaxy Premium ($1,000 additional cost)F4 mirror w/ excellent REAL specs, Strehl 92% at F4(not the phony balony marketing 99% Strehl nonsense that's out there now). Stars in M13 resolve to tiny pinpoints at the core. Contrast is excellent. Mirror alone cost $4,000.00. Enhanced coatings in very good condition. Gives incredible images. New Feathertouch Focuser, New Argo Navis DSC's with ServoCat GoTo and tracking that is EXTREMELY accurate due to the exacting tolerances that this scope was built to. Will hold an object in the field of view at 700X for over 1/2 hour (the Ring Nebula was still in the center of the field of view after 1/2 an hour at 700X). I only have to do the 2 Star alignment one time and all objects anywhere in the sky will fall within the field of view at 150X for the entire night with no other adjustments needed. Picture is prior to the ServoCat being installed. Has many ServoCat accessories and the installation is very thoughtful and unobtrusive. But the real beauty of this scope is its extremely low profile. Eyepiece height at zenith is less than 80". I'm 6'2" and I don't need a ladder or anything to step up on. All the typical misc accessories are included (wheelbarrow handles, pneumatic tires, light shroud, Telrad, Kendricks 2" laser collimator, and other things I just can't think of right now. Includes a Paracorr that I use for 120X and lower. It's one of the coolest looking scopes I've seen. Scope cost $7,000 to construct, plus ArgoNavis/Servocat fully loaded $2,800, plus Feathertouch focuser, $350, plus custom folding aluminum ramps to wheel scope into vehicle $400, plus Paracorr, Kendrick's 2' laser collimator, Telrad, and Scope Cover $600,equals over $11,000 invested. Selling due to health concerns. Pick up only in Orange County, CA, or buyer pays for crating and shipping (probably would cost $500). Serious inquiries only. This is a once in a lifetime scope and I want to find the right person for it.

Thanks for looking,

Dan Jewell
