NightSky Scopes 16" Truss DOB w/ Argo Navis

1- Argo Navis (8192 step encoders) installed.

2- 16" Meade Primary f/4.5 (1.6" thickness). Recoated by Paul Z at Spectrum in March 2004.

3- 3.1" Astrosystems 1/10th Wave Secondary mirror (96% enhanced coating)

4- 18 point full flotation NSS Mirror cell

5- 7Amp hour electrical package (includes Dual cooling fans, Astrosystems Secondary dew heater and Fully automatic Battery charger)

6- 2" Crayford focuser (JMI DX-2) with Motofocus

7- Lycra-spandex light shroud

8- Telrad

9- Wheelbarrow handles

10- High precision groundboard installed and all necessary mods completed for Servocat GOTO system

11- Catseye’s Collimation Set – 2” Blackcat, 2” Infinity and red center spot up to 32” diameter (I installed one red triangle, it comes with two others). Works wonderfully, see their website for fully details.

This scope was a prototype built by Jim Nadeau (NSS) but it is really indistinguishable from the current models. As stated this scope has the Meade mirror – NSS now uses Pegasus mirrors. However, this mirror gives really nice views and was just recoated by Spectrum.

The Argo Navis is fully installed and the scope is all set for Servocat (or Servocat Jr.) for those interested in complete GOTO capability.

I just received the scope from NSS in April and used it maybe five times. It is just too much scope for me.

I am into this scope for hair under $4,000 (a good deal considering everything). I am willing to sell the whole thing for 20% off of this price - $3,200 – for pick up. If I have to ship it, it will be the $3,200 plus several hundred dollars to cover shipping – figure $3,500. I still have the boxes and packing material from NSS. Paypal is no problem but I would like to split their fee.

The attached picture is the scope without the Argo installed. If anyone wants more pictures I can easily provide them.
