The Meade 826's have a well-known reputation for having excellent optics. I bought this mirror recently from the excellent Astromarter Ross Workman, who described the mirror (and I quote):
"This mirror is a good one. Comes from a ~1980 Meade 826. It was made during Meade's early newtonian telescope days. This mirror is as good as the Meade Research Grade mirrors and I'd even put it up against a Royce mirror. The coatings, I believe, are original and will need to be replaced sometime in the near future if you wanted to realize the full potential of this mirror. Otherwise, they are quite servicable."
I have examined the coating very closely with a flashlight. The coating is pitted and will need recoating. I'm selling this because my project has taken a new direction. I have the Meade mirror cell available with the mirror for $40.
