100-mm Maksutov F/10 $275 with Optional Mount
An Intes (Russian) Maksutov with a 1/4th Wave Wave front. It comes with Tube rings and Star Diagonal. The rings can be attached to many mounts. It is shown on a Celestron GC-4 mount with dew cap extended and will attach just as easily to a Losmandy plate or other mounts including a sturdy Camera Tripod. The scope is focused like a Telephoto lens by turning the corrector and can be used as one with appropriate camera “T” adapter. It will focus from less than 40 feet to infinity. It delivers excellent star and planetary images and was always a hit at star parties.
In the pictures it is shown on a Celestron GC-4 Mount which is also for sale.
The entire system, scope and mount is $500 plus shipping. The drive runs on four “D” cells and will track over seven hours on four batteries it is powered in RA only and the Declination axis has slow motion knobs. The mount has a built in polar alignment scope for excellent polar alignment.
The legs can raise the mount from 40 inches to 60 inches as measured to the base of the telescope. It is very solid and I have had no problem taking photographs and CCD images using an SBIG ST-5C.
It tracks well enough without guiding to take a two to three minute picture.
