The Astro-Rubinar 100 is actually a Russian-made camera lens that astronomy buffs have found makes a great compact (106mm, F/10-15)compound cassegrain telescope. There is more info on this unique instrument at the ITT Telescope web site, as well as many positive comments in the Astromart forums. The mechanical, appearance, and optical features of this scope are excellent. Many people compare the optics to Questar, but I have never looked through a Questar, so I can't say for sure. Mine comes with both a red dot finder and a Celestron optical finder scope. These are easily interchangeable as needed for both astronomical and terrestrial viewing. It also comes with a basic Meade 1.25" diagonal, carrying case, a metal screw-on dew shield, dust caps, and 3 full-aperture filters. A mount is not included, but I use a heavy duty camera tripod since the scope weighs only about 5 pounds. It is small and light enough for airline carry-on. This versatile scope and accessory package (including shipping) is offered at $300. Clear skies.
