Comets are not the easiest targets to photograph. Comet NEAT itself is moving pretty fast so exposure times have to be short and your tracking impeccable. But there is no real trick involved in getting perfect focus - just use a Series IV 'Stiletto' focuser. Take a look at Bob Ritt's neat photo below and listen to what he has to say:

"This one of Neat was taken using the STI for focus on the ST-8.
Like I said before " It works Dynamite" !! It was one single image
and I used a three dark frame reduction on it to get rid of the Noise! And a bit of processing but not much! You can see that the STI was right on as usual! Thanks!!

The key word above, of course, is 'usual'. The Series IV 'Stiletto'
will put you in perfect focus each and every time in less than thirty
seconds. While Bob used his with an ST-8, Series IV models are
available for all 35mm, 35mm DSLR, and CCD cameras. If you haven't found the trick for precise focusing yet, check out our website for all of the details on the Series IV today.

It really is a neat gizmo!

Clear Skies!
Richard
