For Sale: Orion Sky View Deluxe 6" f/5 OTA with mounting rings. Includes the OTA (optical tube assembly), rings, and dust caps, but no finder, eyepieces, or mount. (Mounting plates are included for both an Orion dovetail-style optical finder and a red-dot finder.) This telescope has had one major upgrade: the inside of the optical tube and the focuser drawtube are lined with Protostar's flocking paper, which serves to greatly reduce internal reflections, thereby improving contrast.

Please note: There are two scratches on the primary mirror, both of which were there when I purchased the scope from its previous owner. One scratch is very faint and near the center of the mirror. It is about 1.25" long, but is partially obscured by the secondary mirror's shadow. The other scratch is deeper and more obvious, and about 3/8" long. At the time that I purchased the scope, I spoke with a technician at Orion about the scratches and whether I should replace the mirror. His assessment was that they would have a negligible effect on the views through the scope, and, in my experience, that has been the case. This scope has served up excellent views of both deep-sky objects and the planets, and the only reason I am selling it now is because I bought a TV-102.

The telescope is in excellent mechanical condition, with a very smooth focuser and thumbscrews on the primary mirror for easy, no-tools collimation. Cosmetically, it is in excellent condition, with no dents, scuffs, or scratches on the tube.

I am asking $115 for the telescope and mounting rings, which includes shipping within the continental U.S.

I will ship the telescope within one business day of receiving a money order or cashier's check. I can also accept payment via PayPal, but only from an existing balance or checking account (i.e. NO CREDIT CARDS). Sorry, no international shipments. Please email me with any other questions. Thanks!
