Quickset Samson Model QST-3 Tripod

Could be perfect for that home-brew telescope mount. If you're familiar with the Quickset name you know their quality - and their cost!

33.5" tall at it's lowest and a whopping 79" tall when everything fully extended. That's over 6.5 feet tall! Quite stable when fully extended and like a rock when all retracted. Suports up to 40lbs (according to online specs I've seen)! Central "elevator" has 20" of up-down travel and is 1.75" in diameter with captive "floating" 1/4-20 stud for attaching standard photographic type accessories.

99% aluminum construction. The only plastic is two knobs and they are well made & solid - the elevator crank knob and the leg-spreader lock knob. Paint is so-so and there's nominal corrosion/rust hear and there & what looks like some duct tape residue that's dry & flaky and easily scrapes off. With a little elbow grease & a paintjob this could be a thing of beauty. 100% intact and fully functional with NO dents or dings anywhere. The "outer" legs are 1.5" diameter and "inner" retracting legs are 1-3/8" diameter. Weighs about 15lbs or so.

Email if you want any "close-up" pics of anything.

$130 SHIPPED - Or trade for a comparably priced "short tube" reflector or refractor on an equatorial mount. Legs not required but would be a plus. Motorized drive not required but motor-drive capable would be nice.
