Happy New Year Everyone!
I recently got a bigger scope and I already have too much money tied up in telescopes, thus I have decided to part with my 18 inch NightSky dob (frankly, I would keep it if I could).
I bought the scope new in April 2003 and it was delivered to me by the scopes' maker, Jim Nadeau of NightSkyScopes. Its a truly wonderful telescope and I want this telescope to go to a dedicated observer who will use this scope and take care of it. So, please, only serious inquiries.
I will be happy to discuss further and send other photos.
I ordered it with just about every option you can get (see the NightSkyScopes website for more info and Ed Ting's fine review of these instruments). The mirror is made by John Hall of Pegasus. Specs: F/4.33, P-V 1/11.7, RMS 1/29, Strehl .955 - Its a super optic. For instance, one night this fall I had Saturn at over 950x during a pocket of good seeing and it was absolutely razor sharp with much detail in the cloud bands and ring structure--it was like a pastel painting against an inky black sky.
This is a complete package and includes:
- ServoCat GOTO Drive system
- Feathertouch focuser
- 14Ahr Electrical Package (power rail, batteries, float charger)
- Astrosystems dew guard
- Light shroud
- Wheelbarrel handles
- Mirror Transport Box
- Padded Upper Cage Transport Bag
- Charlie Starks' Apodizing mask
- Astrocrumb Filer Slide
- Desert Storm cover
- Observing step-stool/ladder
I have nearly $8500 invested in the scope as listed.
Asking $7200 for everything.
